Few skateboard tricks based on the ollie

360 Hardflip
A Hardflip that involves a 360 Frontside Shove-it instead of merely a 180. Very difficult, very rare.

360 Inward Heelflip
An Inward Heelflip that involves a 360 Pop Shove-it instead of merely a 180. Extremely rare due to ridiculous difficulty and lack of visual style appeal.

360 Flip
A classic street trick first invented by technical freestyle legend, Rodney Mullen, and originally popularised as a street trick by pro-skater turned actor Jason Lee. This is the combination of a 360 pop shove-it with a kickflip. Also known as 360 kickflip, 3 flip or tre flip.

360 Heelflip
Also known as the Laser Flip. The origin of this trick is not clear though it was probably performed not too long after the 360 flip. This is in the same style as the 360 flip except that it is a combination of the 360 frontside pop-shoveit and the heelflip. This is a much more difficult trick to perform than the 360 flip.

360 Shove-it
This trick is simply a shove-it except that the board is rotated 360 degrees instead of 180.
Air(on a ramp)
An ollie that is floated out of a ramp by coming up at around 23.5 degrees, allowing the back wheels to almost blunt, and then popping an ollie. The pop becomes less important as you get to higher stuff

Backside ollie
A Backside ollie is a short term for a backside 180 Ollie also dubbed as B/S 180. Turning in the direction of the rider's toes, the rider and the board spins 180 degrees in the same direction and at the same time during an ollie.

Big Spin
As the name suggests, a big spin has many parts "spinning". One would spin their board 360 degrees, much like a 360 shove-it. At the same time, the performer would do a body varial in the same direction, which is simply spinning 180 degrees in the air. This trick can be executed in many different ways: Nollie, fakie, frontside, backside.
A "Perfect" Bigspin would be to do a shove it, catch the board midair, after the shove it, then rotate the remaining 180 degrees, the board following the body, even though this is rarely done.

Big Spin Flip
Like a bigspin, only instead of doing a 360 shove it, you do a 360 flip.
When done frontside, you have to do a 360 Heelflip, this becomes a Big Spin Heelflip. Also know as a bigflip. Can be done: frontside(with Heelflip), Fakie, Nollie, Backside.

Frontside Ollie
A Frontside ollie is a short term for a Frontside 180 Ollie also dubbed as F/S 180. Turning in the direction of the rider's heels, the rider and the board spin 180 degrees in the same direction and at the same time during an ollie.

Hardflip
A hardflip combines a frontside pop shove-it with a kickflip. Due to the difficulty of this trick, a similar looking variation has been popularised which is similar to the pop shove-it, in which the board rotates as it would with a pop shove-it only at a higher angle, so the board rotates 180 degrees vertically rather than horizontally, like a pirouette. The former version was the original version, but the latter has become popular enough that it is performed by several professionals (e.g. Chet Thomas, Ryan Gallant and Kris Markovich), and appears in this form in a certain popular skateboarding video game.

Heelflip
A heelflip in essence is the same as a kickflip only the board spins outwards away from your body under your feet before you land. Again there is a kick as part of the ollie but unlike the kickflip it is directed forwards, so that the last part of your foot to leave the board is your heel, hense the name.

Semi-Flip
A kickflip combined with a frontside shove-it. Can be thought of as an Inward Kickflip. This trick is very difficult due to the odd nature of spinning a kickflip frontside.

Inward heelflip
An inward heelflip combines a backside pop-shove-it with a heelflip. Article derived from wikipedia.org

Ollie, skateboarding trick

Most tricks on skateboard are based on the Ollie (once called the Ollie Pop), which was invented by Alan "Ollie" Gelfand of Florida in the late 1970s.
Skateboarding tricks can involve varials, jumps, flips, grabs, slides, grinds and stalls, and may even be combined with twists of various multiples of 180 degrees. Tricks which require some kind of ramp, sometimes a halfpipe, are known as transition tricks; the rest can be performed on flat ground or off of curbs and on rails and are known as street tricks.

An ollie is an aerial skateboarding trick during which the skateboarder does not grab his board with his hands, toes or accessories attached to the skateboard.

Performing an ollie starts with the skateboarder standing on the board in his regular stance. The skateboarder jumps up, and as he is about to take off he kicks the tail of the board down. The kick gives the front end of the board upwards momentum and as the tail hits the ground it rebounds bringing the board completely airborne. When the board takes off, its nose is much higher off the ground than the tail. The skateboarder slides his front foot up and forward on the griptape. The friction between the shoe and the griptape levels the skateboard and takes it further off the ground.

The ollie was invented by Alan "Ollie" Gelfand in 1978 on vert and it remained as a vert only trick until 1981 when Rodney Mullen first performed the trick on flat ground.

The highest officially measured ollie from flat ground is 44.5 inches performed by Danny Wainwright, at the Reese Forbes ollie challenge by Quiksilver, although Jose Marabotto from Peru is seen on a video from the early 90's clearing a stack of boards estimated at over 50 inches. The highest official switch ollie is 40.125 inches performed by Alex Bland in a similar switch ollie competition.

A nollie (short for "nose ollie" or "Natas ollie") is an ollie performed off the nose of the board while in the skateboarder's regular stance. A fakie ollie is a normal ollie performed while riding backwards. It would appear to be a "switch nollie", but such term is a misnomer and is not used. This can be a difficult concept for some people to grasp. Think of it this way: the nose of the board is always the nose, and the tail is always the tail, regardless of the direction of travel. A normal ollie is popped off the tail while traveling forward. A nollie is popped off the nose while traveling forward. A switch ollie is popped off the nose while traveling backwards (so that the nose is now in the back). A fakie ollie is popped off the tail while traveling backwards (so that the tail is now in the front). Because of this, there are essentially four variations to every trick, i.e. 360 flip, fakie 360 flip, switch 360 flip, and nollie 360 flip. Each is a distinct trick. Mentawai Island, The Heaven for Surfing

Are you a surfing freak? If you are, it would not be enough should you have not tried to conquer the waves of Mentawai, one of the few places in the world known for its violent and challenging waves. Not only domestic, but also foreign tourists are coming and visiting Mentawai to try out their bravery. Mentawai is located to the west of Sumatra, just south of the equatorial line facing the Indian Ocean. Its beautiful scenery adds a special touch to visitors. There are four big islands in the Mentawai archipelago, those are Siberut, Sipora, North Pagai, and South Pagai.Tourism is a steadfast industry of Mentawai so to speak. Mentawai is virtually the heaven for surfing. Not only for its clean water, but more importantly, a smooth wave rotation reaching 6 meters in height makes Mentawai an ideal place for avid surfers. There are 41 great wave spots, 23 of them are being utilized as tourist attraction with 2 to 3 kinds of waves. The names of the most famous waves for surfing are, to name a few, Nyangnyang in North Siberut, Katiet in Sipora, and Silabu in North Pagai. Surfers usually come between April and October. Unfortunately, there is neither lodging facility nor restaurant along this beautiful coastline, so that surfers have to spend their spare times aboard a vessel. In addition to its famous waves, the day-to-day life of Mentawai tribes is also of interest to most visitors. The habits of tattooing the whole body and teeth sharpening are some of the most unique cultures of Mentawai. Tattoo means a great deal to the Mentawais. The more tattoos one has on his or her body surface, the higher is the person’s status before the eyes of the Mentawais.
